Selecting a psychological counsellor
Today’s world brings so many tensions and pressures in the lives of people whether it is related to office work, family or it is a financial problem. At some point in whole life, you will need someone to make peace in your life. That’s where the psychological counsellor comes in.
Psychological counselling is the process of supervision, training, career development and health and prevention.
What does a psychological counsellor do?
The counsellor can give you advice about your career or he can help you to get through your mental breakdown. There are a lot of online websites and offices of psychological counselling like the psychological counselling in Kolkata. It depends on you how much benefit you can earn from this.
The outcome of the therapy depends upon three variables namely
● Therapist variables
Therapist variables mean the features of the therapist including Technique of the therapist, behaviour, training and theoretical aspect. It may also be noted that it is not necessary for an experienced therapist to be accurate in every case. The accuracy depends on the therapist’s point of view and hard work to understand and solve your situation.
● Client variables
The outcome of the therapy also depends on the help-seeking an attitude of the client and thinking aspect. Some people have the thinking that one should not tell about the personal problems to any other outsider as it will prove that the person is not strong enough to face everyday life. But it is not true. The counsellor can help you only if you let him.
This means that the people with avoidance attitude will get almost no benefits from the counselling.
● Counselling relationship
The main aspect of the counselling is the relationship between the client and the therapist. The relationship between the client and counsellor are the feelings and attitude of both towards each other. For example, the therapist may have a face which matches with the client’s parent or his close friend or family. Due to this, the client will easily explain every problem to the therapist without any hesitation. This will also help grow the understanding between the two.
Thus a secure relationship between the client and counsellor can help you achieve the target of the counselling while an unsecured relationship will lead to more problems only.
